Community Rules
To report a rule violation, start a ticket in Discord in the #rules-violation-ticket channel. This ticket will create a private channel visible only to you and the GM team.
We will do our best to review tickets and respond within 48 hours. To allow us to track violations, keep all discussion about the violation within the ticket channel. Please do not DM GMs about rules violations.
Some violations – such as griefing, racism/discrimination, personal attacks to community
members or GMs – may result in an immediate ban. In most cases, however, GMs will issue one official warning, then the next violation will result in a ban.
Creating an alt account to avoid a temporary ban will result in a permanent ban.
Roleplay
-
- All interactions, including combat, should be done with your character’s story and roleplay in mind. The character story must include reliable in character information and reasonable reaction to other characters and situations. Attacking someone because they did or did not decide to give you their fiber shoes or cookies is not a reasonable reaction in most cases. In general, there is an expectation that characters will hold value for their lives – life is precious, even to the thug.
- All in character information and communication should occur in local chat.
- Verbal Roleplay – Using quotations ” or using no indicator at all is in character conversation; all players within hearing range are assumed to have heard it in character.
- Non-Verbal Roleplay – Using asterisks * is an indication that what you’re typing in local chat is not heard, but is seen and/or conveyed to all players that can see it in local chat. Players should refrain from typing character thoughts, premonitions, or anything that other characters shouldn’t know.
- Out of character – using parentheses () indicates an OOC note in local chat. All global chat is considered OOC.
- Metagaming, or using information your character has not specifically had within local chat, or Power Gaming, using your RP to control the actions of another, is not allowed.
- In order to moderate the server, we ask that players use English when roleplaying and communicating in global. Communicating within a group / guild / couple of friends in a language you all are comfortable with is fine. All players should respect that not all players’ primary language is English and be patient with any communication barriers.
Community
-
- RPCLiF is a diverse global community; behavior that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and otherwise discriminatory behavior will earn you an immediate ban.
- Save your aggression for the tourney grounds – we expect you to be able to differentiate between in character and out of character conflict and act accordingly. When you are communicating out of character, keep your language respectful. Keep any out of character disagreements that are not related to RPCLiF or Life is Feudal to DMs.
- Leaking personal information of another user without their permission, including but not limited to sharing images, addresses or social media links, will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
- Do not share malicious links or NSFW material in game or in the Discord.
- No self-promo – do not promote other communities or projects in the Discord without GM or Admin permission.
- Topics such as rape, racism, or slavery will not be tolerated at any time in character, out of character, or in Discord.
Life is Feudal
(an aside from Dom)
I accidentally did some math and realized that RPCLiF turns 9 years old about nowish? (I’m bad with time), so I’m abusing my power to wax poetic for a moment.
In spring 2015 RPCLiF was created by a couple of wonderful humans as a response to a toxic and gm-abuse heavy server. We’ve changed and evolved and changed a lot over the years, but in the time that I’ve been here, and I hope in the time that I’ve been gone, we’ve done our best to bring community and roleplay together in this game we all, almost a decade later, can’t quite seem to kick. I think it’s the terraforming.
Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or you’re joining for the first time this iteration, I want to let you all know how much it means to have such a wonderful and creative community to roleplay with. I look forward to meeting you in Varrowynd.
